Pinus virginiana ( Virginia Pine, Scrub Pine, Jersey Pine) USDA H4-hardy
…8-20m tall at maturity, sometimes shrubby.The crown is dense, rounded or flat topped with numerous ascending branches. Light or dark green needles, stiff and twisted, 4-8cm long. Often found growing on poorer soils in it’s natural environment.
Like some other southern yellow pines, Virginia Pine timber case hardens. That is, it becomes very hard over time during wood drying.
