A tree to 20-25m in the wild, but can be kept much smaller. We have a 30 yr old item of the same at @ 9 foot tall, and relatively narrow,with superb ground level surface branching too. Naturally found in the damp mountains of W. Europe, and sometimes on peat bogs. Limestone tolerant.
The crown is broadly conical and irregular. Curved and twisted dark green needles @5-6cm long and persisting for 4-8yrs. Yellow or yellow-reddish pollen cones
