Pinus ponderosa penaz, USDA H4-hardy
An upright very sparsely branched tree with single leader needled main stem. 6-8m in 10yrs. The form is slightly reminiscent of a mid-west/Mexican mammoth cactus. Originates since 1973, found as a natural variant in a ponderosa seed bed. Very rare in cultivation. There are no laterals in the early years and few laterals even after 10 yrs, hence few opportunities for propagation scions
