A slower growing pine when young, eventually reaching10-30m according to environment. The crown is dense and narrowly conical becoming broader with age. The relatively short branches spread horizontally or become assurgent. Yellow(tinged red or purple) pollen cones. Green or purple seed cones becoming brown at end of season. Native to Albania, Bulgaria, Northern Greece and Serbia at altitudes of 800-2000m.
