A tree from15-45m tall in it’s native E. China. The branches are long, spreading, assurgent and crowded in the domed or flat topped crown. Straight or slightly curved dark green needles from 10-17cm when mature. Yellow pollen buds borne in clusters turn reddish-brown. Pinus hwangshanensis is closely related to pinus luchuensis and pinus taiwanensis
