Grahame Oakey hmcw, Freeman WCFM, furniture & joinery and CLIENT LIST

Grahame is an established master craftsman in joinery, furniture and cabinetmaking. With more than 40 years experience in his trades (also including specialist marquetry, parquetry, carving, woodturning, shop and hotel fitting), he operates the workshop from his tree nursery farm in North Devon.

Previously Grahame has retailed his fine furniture and art in gemstone and wood from his own Brompton Road shops (in his 20’s)- virtually next door to Harrods. He now predominantly serves his loyal customers, North London clientele, and still makes bespoke windows and doors for local clients. Historically, Grahame has made furniture for the Ritz Hotel, Westminster Abbey and many other well known businesses, celebrities and Royalty.

With a meticulous attention to detail and successful engineering of woodworking, he uses over 200 species of veneer and timber to create stunning woodworking whether contemporary or traditional in style. He is an keen advocate of burr wood veneers and a specialist in curved woodworking- whether it is solid timber or veneered. In line with ecological sensitivity, all timber bought in is from sustainable sources.

From very special commissions to utilitarian joinery Grahame applies decades of wisdom in woodworking, ‘tailoring’ projects to clients’ individual requirements and budgets.

In recognition of his achievements in woodworking, Grahame was invited and inaugurated as a Freeman of The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers in 2016- one of the City of London trade guilds.
