Abies firma, The Japanese or Momi fir, USDA H6
The Japanese fir is native to the mountains in the south of Japan: Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku and Yakushima. It grows to 40-50m in the wild. Needles are stiff and tough(15-35mm long)- hence the name ‘firma’ and are bright shining light green above and whitish green beneath.
